A promising new initiative for financial capability and debt workers is being organised by Citizens Advice Bournemouth following a request from the financial help organisation ‘Talk Money.’

In the past the Wessex Financial Capability Forum, which usually takes place in Bristol, has had a disappointing turn out of workers from the East of the Wessex area and as a result a Forum is being organised in Dorchester on the 22nd of February.

The forum will allow those involved in financial capability in the Dorset area to meet and discuss concerns, issues and successes surrounding financial capability in the hope of improving the services they offer.

Operations manager for Citizens Advice Bournemouth and organiser, Emma Lee, said: “I am really excited about the opportunity to be able to organise a forum enabling workers from the financial education sector to meet.” She went on to say that such an event would not have been possible before.

Also on the agenda will be Alan Plummidge from Wessex Energy Advice providing attendees an understanding of how clients can save money through energy saving measures and what grants and financial support is available to those that are in fuel poverty living in the Dorset area.

Nicki Juniper, debt advisor at Citizens Advice Bournemouth said: “Hopefully it will be well supported and will assist us in integrating financial capability in all areas of debt advice.”
