The council are working in partnership with Citizens Advice Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole to improve standards of living in the West Hill area.
Under this project, Citizens Advice Bournemouth Christchurch & Poole provide a dedicated drop-in service for clients requiring housing or immigration advice.
The project aims to improve the quality of rented housing in the area through inspections and letting residents know where they can get help if there are problems with their property. The project will also develop the community in West Hill and look to resolve issues such as anti-social behaviour, graffiti and fly tipping.
Drop-ins are held on the first Friday of every month at Bournemouth Town Hall from 10am until 3:30pm and we ask that clients state that they are attending for the West Hill drop in. Clients can raise issues regarding immigration or housing with our specialist adviser. This enables us to take on more complex cases and have continuity between the client and Adviser.
We can help clients by advising them of their rights regarding their tenancies, the legal requirements placed on landlords to maintain accommodation to a good standard and in good order and how clients can take action if their housing is not compliant with the rules.
Citizens Advice have had success with West Hill area residents in relation to illegal evictions, invalid notices to quit tenancies and forcing landlords to carry out essential repairs.
You can contact the West Hill Project for more information or for advice through the Private Sector Housing at the council on 01202 451083, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
