Welcome to Let’s Talk Money from Citizens Advice.

The aim of the project is to provide tailored advice and solutions to improve the financial resilience, money management skills and general wellbeing of clients across Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole.

What is Let’s Talk Money?

The Let’s Talk Money team offer guidance to people who are worried about their finances, or want help to understand their options and plan for the future. Our purpose is to empower clients by offering guidance and support to achieve short and long-term solutions . The team will assist with budget planning, benefit checking, and will produce tangible action plans with clients. Let’s Talk Money will provide support delivered through various channels, and can also offer coaching with basic digital skills and the use of financial technology, plus referrals and signposting.

The project will target those experiencing significant change in income due to:

  • Health issues, both physical and mental ill-health.
  • Employment issues such as redundancy, furlough, temporary/unstable work contracts.
  • Housing situation changes such as increased bills, home schooling costs or renting issues, or homelessness.
  • Caring responsibilities.
  • The long-term impact and fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is our aim to help local people to:

  • Restore their financial stability.
  • Recover control of their finances.
  • Rebuild their financial resilience.

We will also offer guidance and support with helping to:

  • Manage daily finances.
  • Withstand unexpected emergencies.
  • Develop positive habits.
  • Enhance knowledge and skills (including digital money skills).
  • Change established behaviours.
  • Access further specialist support, where needed.
  • Meet long-term financial goals.

Funded by JP Morgan and following on from the hugely successful Money Talks project, we will bring established Citizens Advice Services together with other local organisations to supply a range of options tailored to suit each individual.

How it works

You can book a session with one of our specialist Let’s Talk Money Guides by either contacting us directly using the form below; through your local Citizens Advice; or as a referral from one of our partner organisations. You will need to provide as much information as possible regarding your situation.  An appointment will be booked for you at the earliest opportunity, at a suitable location.

From here, we will be able to determine the level of support and guidance you need, and further sessions can then be booked, if required.

Please note that this is a guidance service and does not offer specialist or regulated advice. However, we can refer you to other Citizens Advice services where necessary.
